The owners of this home have lived in it since it was built in the 90s. They have raised their family in this home, and just couldn't come to terms with the thought of living anywhere else. But the home no longer suited their lifestyle and needed an upgrade. A careful analysis of the context and user brief resulted in an exciting yet sympathetic adjustment to the plan, dramatically improving the living areas, opening up the house to the surrounding garden, and celebrating the beautiful trees and adjacent park. The client's desire to enclose the deck with mesh to protect it from insects has been pushed further, using fall protection compliant mesh to enable floor to ceiling screens and removing the need for railings. This is a collaboration with Phinley Design.
